Southwest Petroleum Institute, The Sustainable Development Strategy

Nowadays the reform of higher education system in our country is brought into effect. Most of colleges are generally facing a common problem that is how to develop and progress under new conditions. For example, South-West Petroleum Institute, a normal college once belonged to the ministry of petroleum in the past, has also met the same problem. With the changed policy, at present SWPI has left to the Sichuan province. So, in this situation it is an urgent problem of how to change the notion quickly and to realize the strategic target of SWPI's Second Development.First of all, aiming at the characteristics of education industry and combining with the analysis of market environment around college, this paper brings forward the general rule of higher educations' continuous development based on the theory of continuous development.All kinds of strategic resources and elements which affect the continuous development of colleges then are found out. After that, the relationships among elements are analyzed carefully around teaching, scientific research, and production work.The key constituents and key resources have also been discoved.In addition, this paper adopts empirical analysis method to analyzes some cases of famous universities around the world in order to summarize its' successful experiences and provide SWPI's development with an example for reference,.Finally, the internal and external environments of SWPI are deeply analyzed in terms of strategic management. As a result, the advantages and disadvantages for SWPI's future continuous development are drawn out. And then the strategy of SWPI's continuous development and relative concrete tactics are brought up, based on the general rule of higher educations' continuous development and successful experiences in some famous universities mentioned above. ? .In a word, a good many theoretic researches about SWPI's continuous development are discussed deeply. On the other hand, it is hoped to provide a reliable reference to establish the correct strategy and concrete tactics for leaders of SWPI.
