In this paper, we introduce the background information and the present situation at home and abroad of the combination of the modern information technology and the geography teaching in middle schools. According to the development, we divide it into three groups: teaching based on multi-media, free-style teaching based on the Internet and teaching based on the interactive operation platform. Also, we inquire into the theoretical bases, principles and design patterns of this new interactive model based on the digitalized operation platform and the geography teaching platform. Combined with the geography teaching practice, we analyze the design forms and features and evaluate the implementation, which proves that this new model breaks through the traditional teaching structures and increases the teaching capacity in a class. It also emphasizes the advantages of the combination of the modern information technology and the geography teaching and shows the new trend. By changing the traditional teaching ideas and methods, we fulfill change of the individual teaching and the student-based education, which in turn improve the whole class. We do some further research on the following aspects: trying new teaching methods, providing new studying environment and developing students' creativity and the ability to practice. Meanwhile, we focus on the solutions of the problems when combining the digitalized operation platform and the geography teaching in middle schools.
