The essence of English education is to cultivate the students'ability of applying English. But what is the way to achieve this goal? On the basis of great amount of research and application, a large number of researchers at home and abroad on foreign language teaching methodology and second language acquisition put forward the theory of task-based teaching.Task-based teaching emphasizes both learning through applying and learning for applying. Applying the language to do things in task-based teaching, students can feel the charm of the language themselves, so their inbuilt potential and initiative can be mobilized to the largest extent. To finish a task with their learning partners in the task-based activities, students can build up their ability to discover problems and to solve problems. Besides, students can feel the interest and success of doing things by using the language and realize their self-worth. Therefore, it is necessary to research on the application procedure of task-based classroom teaching in primary English teaching.Based on the theory of former researchers, this paper mainly discusses the necessity and specific methods to apply task-based teaching in primary English teaching by using the experience summarizes method and the interview method . At the same time, by taking examples of primary English classroom teaching design and combining the characteristics of primary English teaching, it explores the application procedure according with the mental development characteristics of primary students, so as to achieve the goal of strengthening the application of English teaching contents and improving the communicative competence of students.
