All managerial activities by people end up with some kind of management of people. Human-oriented management, or people-centered management, refers to the managerial activities in which people are regarded as the center of management, human resources being fully developed, the needs of benefits-related community being satisfied, and the goals of members are achieved while those of organization are achieved. It is a basic value pursued in school development that school management should be human-oriented in our country in 21 century.The thought of human-oriented management is of long standing and has been developing continuously. It is the essence of management wisdom in Chinese ancient times in which the thought includes the view of"loving others", of"people-centered", of"administrating by humanity", of"obtaining solon", and of"educating people". It has been developing in modern times. The new theories about world development in China in the new period illumine human-oriented management .The idea of human-oriented spreads widely among the whole society, getting approval by people, and then embodies in organizational management now. Chinese scholars in management have done some research into human-oriented management, and put forward some views on it.The essay illustrates the significance, nature and facility of educational management, and probes into the concrete content of human-oriented management in secondary schools. Human-oriented management of secondary schools refers to managerial activities in which school members (mainly including teachers, students and other members) are regarded as the center of management, human resources (mainly including teachers and workers) being fully developed, quality education being put to students into practice, social needs and educatee's individual needs being satisfied, and the goals of members are achieved while those of school management are achieved. It mainly embodies in four aspects: respecting people, caring for people, depending on people and developing people. Its main characteristics are: cherishing the value of members and giving prominence to the status of members; understanding and acclimating to human nature, and developing members' advantages and potential; satisfying reasonable requests of members and inspiring members; participating democratically and self-managing; members keeping on developing; being pleased, and working and learning efficiently.The essay researches on the human-oriented principle of educational management and expounds the content about human-oriented management in secondary schools. It analyzes today's current situations on the management of secondary schools and points out some existent issues, which are as follows: (1) the lack of human-oriented management affects the psychological health of teachers and students. (2) the drawback on the concept of educational quality management breaks away from the educational aim. (3) the educational management regulations are imperfect and are lacking in elasticity and humanity. (4) the rigid mode of educational management restrains the positive enthusiasm of teachers participating in educational management. (5) the evaluation means and methods of educational quality are short of the nature of science. The following are the approaches to dealing with the above six issues: (1) the new concept on educational management should be established. (2) the rules and regulations ought to be perfected. (3) to set up the mechanism of participation and stimulate teachers and students to take part in management. (4) to create the mechanism of encouragement to promote teachers and students'vigorous enthusiasm. (5) to construct scientific evaluation system on educational quality. (6) to improve the scientific process of educational management. (7) to establish a high-quality team of specialized teaching.The paper probes into human-oriented management in secondary schools based on a large quantity of research and documents, with the purpose of enriching the research on human-oriented management in schools. It can enrich the research of human-oriented management in schools and provide some evidence for secondary schools to carry out scientific development and human-oriented management.
