Vocational Class Culture Construction

The healthy moral and psychological development of the university students and the tendency to humanism call for an appropriate way vocational education. The class is the basic unit where students have their personality established and developed during the college life, therefore, the class culture becomes the starting point of the culture building-up of the vocational colleges. Due to the fact that the present class and school culture do not match the survival and development both to the school and its students, it is quite necessary to reconstruct the school and class culture. Based on the previous researches, the present paper defines class culture as:Class culture, as a micro exemplification of the school culture, is the soul of the class. It is a unique life style led by the same psychological culture such as sense of value and thinking style, etc. and it consists of culture of behavior, culture of system and culture of substance.The present research made an investigation into the class culture from a humanistic perspective based on the writer's practical case study of the class culture building-up. The paper first gives a non-theoretical review of the class culture building-up by the summary of the practice; then made a cause-and–effect analysis of the class culture and reflection on the existing problems. As for the experience on how to build up the class culture in vocational college, the writer made a brief summary as follows:1. The love-effect from the teachers especially the teacher in charge of the class acts as the precondition and the foundation of class culture.2. The collective education plays a crucial part as well as the education from the teachers.3. The effective operation of the dual body system --- both the teachers mainly the teacher in charge and the students is the driven force of the class culture.4. The class culture building mainly focuses on the psychological state culture in regard to the content. It is advanced periodically according to different level.5. To build the healthy class and individuals is the basic goal and value tropism. Meanwhile, the write also made an reflection on the present problems of the class culture building as follow:In regard to the supporting system of the class culture building, not enough importance was attached to the support from the society, family and school. It is supposed to form a strong supportive combination of force --- the teacher in charge as the core with the support from the society, family and school.In terms of moral education leadership, it has always been the"teacher in charge-centered"model while the students as the main body of the class culture building play little role. The teacher in charge should put the moral leadership as the priority and train the students to be their own leaders of their study and life. It is insisted that the role of the teacher in charge should be renamed as"the leader of the leaders".The class culture building-up lacks of the internet culture construction to go with the era in term of its content. Only when the leader of the class culture building-up-- the teacher in charge has grasped the technology of the internet and has a good knowledge of the internet information as well as the ability to deal with the internet challenges can he or she has the initiative of class culture building-up, so that it will possible to create the psychological culture atmosphere and exploit the specific culture space in an environment of the internet.As for the question of the direction in which the class culture of the vocational colleges goes, the writer holds the view that the system of credit hour might weaken even eliminate the function of the old unit ---the class, however, the existence of the basic unit—the students can never disappear and even needs more concern than before. Therefore, it is not only more than meaningful for the building of the class culture which is the foundation of the class construction to exist.
