Multiple intelligence theory and its application in Chinese language teaching. With the improvement of education system and renewal of education idea in our country, we have made great progress.But students'fates are still decided by the entrance examination to the university.The ability of a student is only judged by how well he does in the test. All these result in the decrease of the vitality of the native language and students'abilities haven't been improved. Dr. Howard Gardner established the multi-intelligence theory, which offered us the new multiple assessments of the students ability. Meanwhile, can we Chinese teacher apply this theory to our teaching?The program of instruction of the Chinese language says that we Chinese teachers should cultivate and improve the students'abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing. But that is the ultimate objective.The multiple abilities can't be focused on one student during the teaching process. According to Prof. Gardner, every person has at least seven intelligences, that is linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal and intrapersonal.But different individual has different level of each of the seven intelligences.Therefore I think about combining Chinese language teaching with the multi-intelligence theory and revising the evaluation criteria to fully develop the students'intelligences.The main ideas of the thesis are as follow:Chapter 1 introduces the background and content of the multi-intelligences theory.Chapter 2 analyzes the present situation of the Chinese language teaching and gets the conclusion that it is necessary to adopt the multi-intelligence theory to the Chinese language teaching.Chapter 3 demonstrates the significance of applying the theory to the language teaching.Chapter 4 illustrates how to apply the theory to the language teaching.Chapter 5 discusses the revised evaluation criteria in the language teaching.Chapter 6 discusses the possible aspects that teachers should pay attention to when applying the theory to the teaching.All in all, to change the traditional teaching idea and the traditional appraisal system will help cultivate the students'personality and help them fully developed.
