Objective: The research took Chinese female throwers being trained for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games as the subjects, and attempted to find out some rules or problems by exploring the characteristics of their training and its relationship with the variation of some physical function indices during the winter training, in order to provide a reference and help to the development of scientific training of female throwers. Methods: The research took the follow-up observation during the whole winter training season (from Dec. 2004 to Feb.2005), testing some physically related indices such as Testosterone (T), Cortisol (C), Blood Urea (BU), Serum Creatine kinase (CK), Hemoglobin (Hb), urine indices, and then analyzing them by SPSS software. Results: (1) In this research, indices such as T,C,T/C were relatively steady during the whole winter training. (2) BU and CK increased distinctly (P<0.05) in the former three weeks, then tended to decline due to adjusting training load and supplementing nutriments. (3) Hb was steady during the winter training, indicating that the throwers were in the good nutritional status. (4) Ten urine indices could reflect throwers'endurance of training load very well, but the diversity among different athletes with different specialities was distinct. LEU occurred in javelin throwers is a strange phenomenon worthy of deeper investigation. Conclusion: (1) In this research the indices T of female throwers raised while C increased, but the increasing extent of T was more distinguished. The pertinency between C and T/C are greatly higher than that between T and C, which indicates that C can better reflect the physical function of female throwers than the traditional T does, and that testing C instead of T could decrease the testing cost and work load. The research also finds that, for female throwers, it is not appropriate for the definition that altheletes are in the good physical function when the value of the C is under 10μg/d. But due to the smaller sample and testing time, at present the effective evaluation standard for the physical function of female throwers cannot be established. (2) The research finds that there is high examination rate of LEU in female javelin throwers, and until now there are not any related research results. After excluding the positive results caused by injury and disease as well as medication, we think that the high examination rate of LEU might be related to the training characteristic of javelin, indicating that LEU could be regarded as the particular index in evaluating the training load of female javelin throwers and directing javelin training. But because of the smaller sample, this deducation still needs the support of the successive reseach of greater sample.
