For a long time, influenced by traditional teaching concept, some problems are serious such as inculcating students with knowledge, single way of teaching evaluation, the divorcement between teaching materials and real life as well as the ignoration of students' practice and emotional involvement. In order to adapt to the development of the era, improve students' all-round qualities, the new curriculum reform in Ideological and Political Course carries forward that teaching goals should reflect the comprehensive situation of students' knowledge, skill, attitude, sensibility and the sense of value. It emphasizes that teaching contents should fit students' physical and learning characteristics and reflect real life so as to enhance students' ability to involve in social life well and to promote the all-round development of students. With a good understanding of the guiding book The Curriculum Standard of Ideological and Political Course in General Senior High School (Experiment) and relative research reports, the article aims to explore a life-based teaching road of Ideological and Political Course.The article consists of four parts. Part One is a summa which defines life-based teaching in Ideological and Political Course, presents its main characteristics and relative theories guiding the life-based teaching.Part Two analyzes the momentous current significance of life-based teaching in Ideological and Political Course from four aspects. Life-based teaching has significant meaning in training and bringing up successors to carry on the cause of Socialist Modernization with Chinese characteristics because it meets the requirement of social development, is able to change drawbacks of traditional teaching, promotes the new curriculum reform and also is beneficial to all-round development of students.Part Three is the main part of the article exploring the practice of life-based teaching in Ideological and Political Course. It is discussed from three gradations, that is the basic concept, macrotactics and implementation of life-based teaching. First, the article expounds some relative basic concepts such as the ecological idea of curriculum, the idea of knowledge, the idea of teaching, the idea of students and the cultural idea of curriculum. Second, teaching goals, teaching contents, teaching process, also teaching evaluation ways of life-based teaching in Ideological and Political Course are analyzed. Third, the article goes into exploration of four steps of life-based teaching practice, that is the preparation before class, teaching in class, practice after class and the step of brief summary.Part Four studies the challenge of teachers who teach Ideological and Political Course in carrying out life-based teaching. On the one hand, teachers should improve their professional quality, the abilities to collect useful teaching materials and solve life problems. Moreover, they should learn to adopt modern educational techniques and improve teaching management. On the other hand, in context of new curriculum, it is a high requirement that teachers should lay stress on students' reality and potential, give play to their subject function, guide them to observe and learn through practice, help them to set up the sense of right value and make right judgment .In a word, it is meaningful that life-based teaching in Ideological and Political Course fits the trend of our times and the educational development direction, attaches importance to the link between theory and life practice. Though there are still some problems needed to be solved and further studied, as a basic direction in educational reform, life-based teaching is bound to play an active role in promoting China' s quality education to cultivate excellent talents in the 21st century.
