Anyone who lives in the world ever accepts other's favor, and so does every nation. It has been our Chinese tradition that you should return it if others do you a favor. However, in recent years, some people don't show their gratitude to those who do them a favor, and even return hate for love. This common practice have affected middle school students of our time, therefore some of them have followed them. Thus, what matters much to our Chinese teachers is to strengthen the function of humanism and gratitude education among middle school students. It mainly illustrates the necessity , importance and feasibility of carrying out gratitude education and how to put it into effect., combined with Chinese teaching, study and activities on the basis of the present condition of their mind and behavior. The passage is made up of four parts.The first part mainly deals with the background where are listed various behavior of lacking gratitude and the analysis of the reasons. Apart from the reasons from families, schools and society, one of the important one is that Chinese teachers can not make full use of the textbooks and the abundant teaching resources during the Chinese study. So it is essential to carry out gratitude education.The second part deals with the basis. It is illustrated from two aspects, abundant teaching resources in teaching and the characteristics of the Chinese course. The former mainly consists of those in textbooks and those from after-class reading, writing, literature activities, and after-class comprehensive practical activities .While the latter includes the characteristics of the Chinese course, the requirements of"Middle School New Course Standard", and conducting"the unity of means and humanism in teaching. Through the thorough analysis, it adequately proves feasible to carry out the gratitude education.The third part treats of the values and the function of reality. The former is illustrated from the basic goal, that is, nurturing all-round human beings , thus achieving the harmony between the inner of the individuals, individual and each other, and individual and the whole. While the latter deals with four aspects. First carrying out the gratitude education should satisfy the requirements of Chinese traditional culture, inheriting and developing traditional virtues. Also it should attach much importance to the fact that class teaching is the major battlefield of moral education. Besides, it should meet the requirements of the characteristics of the textbooks and study and teaching, and building harmonious schools and society as well.At last, it treats of the principles and methods. To carry out the gratitude education the following principles should be followed, Chinese study acting as main body and laying emphasis on class teaching, students-centered and teachers'directing, and combined with after-class activities, sticking to all-round and three-dimensional principle. The methods are as follows, taking advantage of the traditional culture's imperceptible influence on their thinking, holding varieties of study activities, following the example of teachers and parents, offering them the opportunity of returning favor, and creating school culture and social environments . These principles and methods mentioned above fully show the feasibility of gratitude education.In a word, gratitude education, an important part of moral education, is what the middle school students have to receive and also the road to make their personalities perfect, value lives and care for others. Of course, fully searching for the course's humanism and educating students in emotional attitudes and values are every teacher's essential responsibility.
