Ever since the adoption of reform and opening-up policy, China has accomplished prominent achievements in higher education and China has become the focus of world attention by the historical reform and development. However, the downward tendency in education quality has made education risks increasingly evident.The Strategy of Developing the Country through Science and Education and the Strategy of Sustainable Development highlight new requirements and specific goals for the reform and development of higher education. Accordingly, higher institutions are faced with the important tasks to further reform in education and teaching and to improve quality in teaching.ISO9000 quality management system, the result of latest development of world management science and a practical management mode, summarizes experience in contemporary quality management successes and by advanced management theories as well as concise forms, applies to different types of organizations which are of various scales and provides diverse products. Higher institutions introduce ISO9000 quality management system to take advantage of its advanced quality management notion to enrich and perfect quality management theories and to standardize quality management on campus, therefore improving quality in teaching.At research, the author refers to findings of pedagogy and quality management etc. The thesis, consisting of six chapters, formulates the significance and prospects of introducing ISO9000 quality management core notion into education quality management of higher institutions by making use of such methods as document analysis, exemplification and case study as well as practical experience in university management.
