Starting with the classification of the economic pattern and cultural status of Jiangcun area, and taking the sociology book "Jiangcun Economy" written by Mr. Fei Xiaotong in 1930s as an example, I am trying to discuss the education in Jiangcun area, especially the tendency of educational value.Jiangcun culture is part of Wu cultural area, as it has distinctive character and features. The economical development is the representative of south-jiangsu mode, and the influence from culture and economy can be seen clearly in education. Education and especially rural education has a close relationship with cultural and economic development. Not only can the influence of education affect the economic development, it also has on its shoulders the mission of cultural succession and the formation of value choice.From the interview that I did, I find that Jiangcun people care not "what is education", nor "what education should be like", but "what benefit can education bring to us". The idea they have about "education" is not simply school education, but the educational influence from the terrain culture and economical development in this area just like a Chinese saying "characters of the their hometown are deeply imprinted on their personality".As culture means the life pattern of people, so the reason that different people shows different speciality is the difference from their life patterns. Jiangcun people have been living in Jiangcun for a long time, and they have been influenced since childhood by Jiangcun culture and grown up the cultural intention and individual personality with the characters of Jiangcun. Under special era, we need to understand the relationship among economy culture and education from the angle of Cultural Noumenon and Cultural Creation.Education has the function of continuation, refreshment, cultural promotion and the exchange of different cultures. But it is a hard to refresh a culture and integrate cultures of different kinds, because the tradition accumulated through thousands of years, positive or negative, is ineradicable. When we want to change the part of the traditional culture that doesn't fit in with the modernism and the old concept that people have believed for thousands of years in order to build up new consciousness, new concept and new behaving pattern, we must use education to cultivate people, so they can inherit traditional cultural elite and have creativity and character of the era.The mission of education is nothing but help educated people to solve social problems with the knowledge and thinking pattern that they learn. Social problems can be superorganic educational value tendency, namely, education can help people have a perfect personality and ability to earn happiness. Social problems can be what puzzles JIangcun people, such as "what to learn, and why to learn".
