Teaching of speaking and writing plays a very important part in Chinese study in primary school. How is the teaching of speaking and writing in Chinese teaching of the junior class in primary school at present? As to the question, the author has investigated and studied at three representative primary schools. The study shows that on the one hand, the junior pupils tend to speak everything at their pleasure; they can't write. They can't speak or write to the point; they can't describe specific things, either. Therefore, it's necessary to edify their intelligence and sensibility; to cultivate their thinking ability to speak and write consecutively; to train them how to observe carefully; and to make them accumulate large quantities of languages so as to speak and write both specifically and vividly. On the other hand, some Chinese teachers haven't realized that cultivating abilities to speak and write is a process; they persist in some traditional but unworkable teaching methods; they just regard their pupils as teaching object instead of natural persons, so they ignore the value of natural persons. On the basis of the above study, the author puts forward the following countermeasures regarding the Chinese teaching of the junior class in primary school:from the perspective of thinking, teachers should avoid using subjective motivation to replace teaching objective; should place an emphasis on accumulation in reading; and should pay attention to training abilities to speak and write in order to improve thinking development level. While from the perspective of method, teachers should make use of the textbook reasonably and effectively; should pay heed to cultivating language abilities; and at the same time, should make the teaching of speaking and writing reflect the role that both speaking and writing play in composition.
