The birth and development of credit system is the result of education suiting the development of social production capability. Credit system is the necessary outcome of the mushroom growth in social economy, science and technology in advancing higher education through elitist's need. It is an objective developing law without people's will, in which the need of the elitist's diversification entails the higher education reform to be dramatically developed, which is focusing on perfecting credit system. Implementing credit system in adult higher education goes with the historical tide. It enables adult learners get rid of the restriction in choosing courses and learning mode caused by academic system. On the basis of adult learner's likings and interests, they can learn and get the diversified development.The thesis mainly includes four parts.Part one is the general situation of credit system. Followings are details. The premise of the birth of credit system was elective system. It was born in America and was established by the president of Harvard University, named Aliot in 19 century. Then, it was implemented in West Europe,North America,Japan etc. In China, after Mr Cai yuanpei was taken office as the president of Peking University, he changed grade system into elective system.Part two is the international experiences of credit system. Credit system in America, West Europe, Japan and Hong kong are considered and introduced briefly. American credit system is greatly open in length of schooling, optional subject as well as curriculum provision. There is no unified mode and regulation. In west Europe, credit system is implemented complexly in these countries with their respective situation. Credit system is carried out in a small number of universities in England. It is inflexible. In France, only part of the universities implement credit system in third and fourth year period. Academic credit system is carried out in Japan which is typical of management-centered credit system. Credit system in Hong Kong is similar to Europe style.Part three is the situation of domestic credit system. It includes three points. First, the situation of domestic credit system. Second, the barriers of credit system in adult higher education. Third, the internal and external conditions of implementing credit system in adult higher education.Part four is setting up of implementing credit system mode in adult higher education. It is the main part of the whole thesis. As far as credit system is concerned, there are five aspects. First of all, the analysis of credit system mode in which elective system,assistant system, quality-oriented system, repeating system, tutor system and elasticity system are discussed. Second, the cost and profit of credit system in adult higher education. About the profit, it emphasizes on economic profit in which external and internal profit are concerned. Third, running and management of credit system, which pays more attention to teaching management reform in internal adult higher education. Fourth, networking management in credit system. Here, analysis on the networking and its methods are illustrated. At last, students' management on the basis of credit system. It focuses on corresponding strategies in students' management of credit system in adult higher education.
