Nowadays, human society has evolved into a knowledge society that strives forefficiency, reformation and innovation, under the circumstance of globalization andmodernization. For management of Adult Education in universities, the mostimportant key issue to be solved and researched is that how it can face the situationwith both opportunities and challenges, adapting to the needs of developing society,supplying suitable education service and sufficient talents people for sustainableeconomic increase and progress of society.As a teaching administration system, Academic credit system represents themodern teaching theories:“student-orientated, individual diversity respected,personality development emphasized”. Education circles pay more and more attentionto Academic credit system for its merits of encouraging adult student’s personalityformulation, developing adult student’s learning initiative and proactiveness. And thissystem is deemed as novel education and management system suitable for educationmarket. To implement Academic credit system for Adult Education is not only theimportant manner of mass education, but also the objective request of satisfying thevariety of Adult Education. It is the inevitable trend of accelerating Adult Educationreformation and the process of constructing lifelong education system.S University, as a local comprehensive university, locating in the center ofnational economy, science, industry, finance, trading, exhibition and shipping, hasshown its importance in terms of talent people education, scientific research andsociety service. Also, it has shown its leading position in Shanghai for its bigenrollment amount and high teaching quality. Aiming the goal of developing lifelongeducation and constructing learning society, S university has been exploring andattempting education reformation in the past years, and has made much progress andexperience. It sets up good references for the similar kind of university.Based on the research&experience of domestic and abroad Adult Education,this thesis is taking S university as individual example, investigates the situation ofAcademic credit system reformation from following three aspects: educationphilosophy, mechanism security and specific operation methods. And this thesis also reflects objectively and authentically the current situation of Adult Educationreformation and Academic credit system carry-out, analysis different scenario andputs forward some countermeasures, by different means of interviewing managementpeople and education staff, having questionnaires from colleague students, andsurveying with similar universities like X university.From the investigation, there are three key points to ensure the reforming ofAcademic credit system in Adult Education in universities. Firstly, transform teachingtheories, establish lifelong education concept, persist the idea of “People-oriented”.Secondly, optimize education structure; construct flexible management system, torealize good people training. In the meanwhile, reinforce management mechanism,perfect management policy; create a healthy environment for reformation ofAcademic credit system. Lastly, explore and practice methods that matching withAcademic credit system, ensure the implement of Academic credit system, carryforward a continuous, healthy and fast development of Adult Education.
