In recent years, the competition between universities in China is more and more intense day by day. It is the first important matter of universities that how to bloom in such multitudinous universities. The school characteristic gradually becomes the important reference system of appraising universities in China. It has become the school leaders ' agenda that cultivate and refine school characteristic. According to kinds of research on school characteristic in China, the object of study is usually the university or higher education system, by the technique of confining the discussion to the matter at issue; the research lacks certain theory as support. This article attempts to break through the original research pattern of university school characteristic. The author applies the business management theory-Stakeholder Theory in the research area of higher education, especially in the research of university school characteristic, and tries to open novel research model. This article generally elaborates the basic concepts, the characteristics and the present situations of university school characteristic firstly, and through the analysis of dozens of domestic universities' characteristic, summarizes universal questions of university school characteristic construction in our country. Afterwards, the article elaborates basic thoughts and connotations of Stakeholder Theory, and completely discusses many kinds of stakeholders in university. Taking Qingdao University for example, the article analyzes relations between the various university stakeholders and the school characteristic, and discusses mutual influences and the degrees of displaying functions between them, in order to inquire whether the stakeholders are vacant in the process of forming university school characteristic. According to the above explanations, the author analyzes the deep-seated reasons of university school characteristic construction. Finally the author proposes ways and measures of improving university school characteristic construction based on the benefits of various levels of stakeholders.
