Viewing from the historical height, the thesis summarized the development history of individualized instruction in America. Using abundant relative data, the thesis studied the historical track of individualized instruction in America; the definition and characteristics of individualized instruction; and its development trend. Based on the generated background of individualized instruction in America, the thesis introduced the development course of individualized instruction in America and the representative teaching experiments of individualized instruction. After studying the teaching experiment of individualized instruction in America, literatures, and research reports, the achievements of teaching of individualized instruction in America and its problems during implementation were analyzed. The individualized instruction is reasonable in theory, and it is favorable to promote the cognition of students and to promote the teaching activity. However, in practice, individualized instruction has more difficulty than traditional teaching. According to the study of the individualized instruction in America, we should understand the individualized instruction with more multi-minded and comprehensive views. To explore an ideal teaching form, we should cognize, grope, and practice it continuously. Also give it sufficient time and space to develop.Individualized instruction, with its long history, is recently a very popular teaching concept, and it has become to a teaching idea that people are continually discussing and pursuing. Individualized instruction has become to one of the most active areas of teaching innovation and experiment. Individualized instruction is the main trend of modern teaching, and the study of individualized instruction is consistent with the needs of the time.The theory of individualized instruction was generated firstly in America, and the earliest experiments were also put in practice in America. They did not ceased to explore and test the theory of individualized instruction, and especially it grows vigorously after the World War Two. After combing the development skeleton of individualized instruction in America and classifying the teaching experiments of individualized instruction, we can restore the history and get vivid knowledge to individualized instruction in America. Moreover, to introduce individualized instruction in America, to analyze the characteristics of the research, effects and difficulties of implementation, have profound theoretic meaning and reference value for us. There are four chapters in this study, chapter one, starting with analyzing the generated background of the theory of individualized instruction in America, the social background, cultural basis, and theoretic support of individualized instruction were studied.Chapter two, introducing the development course of individualized instruction in America.Chapter three, compress the definition and feather of individualized instruction in America.Chapter four, analyzing the educational effect and faced problems of individualized instruction in America.Chapter five, reflection and enlightenment on the research of individualized instruction in America.
