Justice In Higher Education Sociological Reflection

Since 1990s, Chinese higher education has leaped forward to a well-known popularized education stage. While, the ubiquity of the inequity phenomenon in education is caused by the conflict between stronger demand in higher education of social members and relatively limited resources of it. The equity in high education is an important content of social equity and the extension of it in educational field. It is a vital way to realize social equity. It plays an active role in the construction of harmonious society in China. The principles of equity and justice in Harmonious society mean to firmly protect the equity in high education and implement the harmony in education in order to promote the society developing in a harmonious way.It is attempted to adopt the relative theory and method of sociology, education and management to analyze the current inequity condition in higher education from angle of social stratification theory and to explain the cause of it from higher education inner policies and rules aspect in order to pose some suggestions and countermeasures to improve the equity. The social stratification theory in sociology is adopted to analyze the current inequity phenomenon in higher education of China which reflects in three aspects, i.e. inequity of opportunities of different ranks of student to take the higher education, inequity of process of obtaining education and inequity of the result of education. Powerful and pressing measures are required in this thesis to expedite the development of equity in high education. Currently, we can take some measures, such as more investments in education, optimization the educational resources, multiple development of colleges to supply different levels of educational demands, reformation of higher education acceptance rules to realize the equity of regions, perfection of tuition-paying rules and construction of reasonable higher education donation system, in order to promote the equity in higher education and realize the harmonious development of it.
