Scientific and reasonable teachers' evaluation not only provides useful information for school administrators,parents,but also plays an important role in improving the level of the teaching profession and the quality of teaching in primary and secondary schools.At present,teachers' evaluation has become an important task in the American educational administrational work.It has played an important role in promoting the quality of teaching and the level of the teaching profession.In the United States teachers' evaluation system is becoming mature,while in China it started late,thus,many aspects is yet to study and explore.This thesis studies the teachers' evaluation model of primary and secondary schools of a U.S.school district and a state,and its implications for teachers' professional development.It is expected to provide references for the teachers' evaluation in China.This thesis consists of four parts:Part One probes the origin of the research in this field,its theoretical significance and practical significance,and reviews related literatures.Part Two pictures the general situation of the teachers' evaluation in U.S.primary and secondary schools,including its development history,process and trend.Part Three studies teachers' evaluation mode of the primary and secondary schools in the Washoe County School District,and Missouri State of the United States,analyzes its characteristics and its positive impact on the professional development of teachers.Part Four reveals the implications of American Teachers' Evaluation Mode in primary and secondary schools on China by firstly reviewing the basic situation in China's teachers' evaluation, and then summarizing what we can learn from American Teachers' Evaluation Mode.
