Harbin Aging Population Research

Age structure of Harbin population has tremendous change since the nineties of last century. Harbin has got into the aging society earlierthan our country in 1997.This paper summarizes a number of basic features in the process of population aging in Harbin by analyzing the historical data of Harbin population. With the acceleration of population aging, the aging is bound to produce a variety of positive and negative influence to social and economic life in Harbin. This article will conduct the necessary analysis. The government should provide a variety of policy to support the development of the old-age pension institutions, and encourage fragmentary or informal private pension institutions to take stock cooperation, annexation and reorganization etc to change into bigger and stronger ones and lead to a path of large-scale and enterprise. The retirement age should be extended at the right time through the experimental reform of some classes to ease gradually the pressure on pension funds. In short, this article mainly analyzes the phenomenon of population aging in Harbin from an economic and social point of view and propose the corresponding countermeasure and suggestions for Harbin in the process of population aging.
