Population aging is the product of the development of human society in a certainstage. Population aging is a process of social development, and it refers that the averagelife expectancy continues to increase, elderly population in the general population risesand so on. It’s known that the standard for whether the country has the problem ofpopulation aging is that the age of10%of total population was over65years old or theage of7%of total population was over60years old. When a country or region has theproblem of aging population, it means that the region’s elderly population is relativelytoo much and the structure of population faced new problem.The age structure affects various aspects of economic development, and it isseemed to be one of the most important factors in China’s economic development in thefuture. The impact on the economy can be reflected in the labor supply, productivityimpact, personal and household consumption and other aspects.Currently, Chinese mostly focused on demography, sociology, gerontology andother non-spatial point of view to examine the phenomenon of population aging process,causes, effects and countermeasures. In fact, rural aging issues are more serious than thecity. Deeping study of the aging of the rural population was significant to adapt to therapid development of the aging of the population especially in our province.The full text is divided into three parts: the first part is the theoretical basis for thethesis. It includes the following content: the definition of an aging population, thecriteria for the classification, domestic, current research state in the domestic and abroad.It also described the relationship between the aging population and its social, economicimpacts.The second part is about the rural population aging status, characteristics anddevelopment trends in Jilin Province. It also contains the causes of rural aging and thesocial and economic development impact analysis in Jilin.The third part discussed the problem of rural aging population in Jilin from theaspect of the old-age security, health care, the elderly, community participation,protection of rights of the elderly and so on.
