As an essential part in the high school education, secondary vocational education bears the burden of the responsibility of training millions of labors for our country and it is an important foundation of a country's economic growth and social development. Learning motivation is a force of promoting learning directly as well as a vital non-intellectual factor. However, the learning initiative of students is not enhanced enough for the following reasons. The gap between the existing knowledge, skills level and the actual needs is relatively large. Many social problems, such as the employment pressure, social status, impact on the learning psychology of the secondary vocational students.We adopt two kinds of questionnaires of learning motivation, the contents survey designed by Huang xiting and the strength survey designed by Song zhuanmao, to carry out a sample investigation in Beijing pharmaceutical college. We will analyze the differences in learning motivation from these aspects, such as sex, grade, specialized subject, one-child case.We can reach the following conclusions.1. The mean value of students learning motivation contents from low to high is:personal achievements, fear of failure, small group orientation, knowledge enterprise, social orientation, pursuit of material comforts. The statistical result shows that students pay more attention to material gain.2. Regarding learning motivation,27.19% of students have only a few problems; 67.74% suffer some more perplexities; 5.07% have serious problems. Viewing the situation as a whole, the most students has some certain disadvantages. The mean value of the students'learning motivation problem,from low to high is too weak learning motivation, puzzlement of learning goal, puzzlement of learning interest, too strong learning motivation.3. There are outstanding sexual variations among knowledge enterprise, social orientation and pursuit of material comforts. On the score of the learning motivation level, male student is higher than female student.4. There are marked specialty variations between social orientation and pursuit of material comforts. The mean value of the students'learning motivation problem from low to high on specialized subject is traditional Chinese medicine, medicament, biology, quality testing, and pharmaceutical equipment.5. Grade 2007and 2008 share the same score on the mean value of the students'learning motivation problem. There are insignificant grade variations among students'learning motivation problem.6. There are insignificant one-child variations in this investigation of learning motivation.The following five recommendations are made in light of these conclusions:1. Provide education based on the mainstream values of our society.2. Stimulate students'interest of study by enhancing the professional perception3. Help students to build a fine mental quality in the way of improving the teaching method.4. Enhance the learning motivation through creating a harmonious family atmosphere.5. Cultivate the comprehensive capability for the students with the employment guidance.There exists a main shortcoming that due to the only specific secondary vocational school being investigated hence the applicability and effectiveness of the investigation conclusions need to be tested in the further research.
