| Urban transformation is the process of economic transformation, changing the economic situation from the original industrial structure to a new one. Therefore, urban transformation must be a progress with changing leading industry. Resource-based cities are a kind of city which relies on natural resources and makes the resource industry as leading industry. Due to the natural resources exhausted and non-renewable, the resource-based cities have to get rid of the dependence on the original natural resources and choose a new leading industry, in order to realize urban transformation and sustainable development. Datong City is a typical city based on coal resources. Datong City puts forward the development strategy of “ to transform and achieve green development” in the process of urban transformation. But different from general resource-based cities, Datong City is a city with rich cultural resources. Therefore, choosing the leading industries scientifically and reasonably has an important significance to the development of Datong City.Based on the collaborative theory and urban life cycle theory, this thesis chooses the leading industry of Datong City in the progress of urban development. Begin with the introduction of relevant theories and research, then the present situation and industry policy. The following is using the Shift-Share Method to analyze three industries and optional leading industries of Datong City, and then using the Boston matrix structure to choose the final leading industries. Finally, according to the analysis results, this thesis puts forward the policy recommendations to industry development and urban transformation of Datong City. |
