Tea Color Sorter is an advanced device integrating with electrical, optical, mechanical, which uses the optical imaging of tea to get the pixel value and remove the defective goods by the pixel. It is widely used in agriculture and food industry. With the market economy opening up, the cost of labor has been increased greatly. And most of the labors prefer to work along the coast. The labors engaged in tea production and processing are much less than before. So the labor cost is higher and higher. On the current domestic market, the tea color sorter of foreign brand occupies a major share. In recent years, some self-developed color sorters have gradually begun to be used in domestic market. Tea Color Sorter is a typical mechanical and electrical integration system. And in its R&D process, the development on control system is the main aspect of the design and it decides whether the color sorter can get good performance.Through the research of advanced technology in domestic and abroad and analysis on the lack and major technical difficulties of domestic tea color sorter, this paper develops a new type of intelligent tea color sorting equipment. The study of this paper is about design and development of the entire system based on CCD tea color sorter. We design a parallel work of the color selection test separation systems based on FPGA and DSP, and the dual-CPU model mainly based on the principle of tea color sorter as well as composition of architecture. The FPGA logic control can ensure the stability and precision of the system. And the powerful DSP processing makes the system more efficient and reliable. In a word, the dual-CPU makes the whole system working stably and efficiently.This paper mainly completes the configuration of FPGA and DSP, the design of hardware and layout of circuit, the measurement and control algorithms of tea, and gives a detailed design and analysis on the factors which affect the performance of the color sorter. Finally, this paper describes the on-site assessment test and feasibility analysis of the system.
