Our country's steel output and consumption have been in the first place forseventeen years in the world. During the12thFive-Year Plan Period, steelindustry's development is transformed into emerging field, and domesticequipment manufacturing industry is demanded to promote and to replaceimported products. Rotary flying shears are the key equipment of the continuousrolling production line, with characteristics of production efficiency, simplestructure ect. The application of high-tech makes flying shears machine upgradeconstantly, and its comprehensive performances have been greatly improved, butits core technology is still under the foreigner's control. Therefore, in order topromote the advanced flying shears domesticated, it is very vital that researchthe shear process of rotary flying shear in-depth, then put forward reasonabledesign method for the development of the equipment.For studying the key technological parameter in the cutting process of rotaryflying shears, the theoretical research, numerical simulation and experimentalvalidation are adopted.In the aspect of theory, theoretical formulas and empirical formulas of shearforce calculation for rotary flying shears are induced and analyzed. By theexisting hot shear resistance curves of steel, fitting curves are used for unit shearresistance and cutting depth, and get its functional relationship, the shear forceformula of arc blade flying shears are fixed. The finite element model of flyingshears cutting steel is built, and the change of steel plate deformation, stress,strains and shear force are analyzed by ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Also, someinfluencing factors to the shear force and shearing quality are investigated indetail, including the relative depth of shear blade cutting, lateral gap of shearblade, shear speed, steel specification, and material quality. The process ofhelical flying shears and arc flying shears cutting steel are respectivelysimulated by finite element and compared with the process of parallel flyingshear, also their influencing to steel plate deform and shear force are analyzed and compared. The simulation demonstrates the theoretical analysis. Shearforces was measured on the pot, and shear forces got from finite elementcalculation and empirical formula are compared and analyzed from themeasured value.This method combined with finite element simulation and experiment isadopted to study the process of flying shears cutting steel plate, and thetheoretical analysis results are fixed. It has important reference and practicalvalue for theory research and development design of rotary flying shears.
