After the completion of rail transit, it is bound to have an impact on the the trip structure of residents and the operation of conventional bus. Urban rail transit occupies the dominant position of urban passenger transportation for its advantages of high capacity, high speed, punctuality and efficiency. It is necessary to integrate and optimize the structure of the public transportation system. The reseach on the connection of the urban rail transit and conventional bus has two aspects role:on the one hand, multi-mode hierarchical structure can meet the different public transportation trip demand, enhance the attractiveness of public transportation, and improve public transportation share in the proportion of trip mode; On the other hand, conventional bus feed and distribute passengers for urban rail transit, can reduce unreasonable competition between them, and achieve the win-win situation in the internal public transportation system. The node and location characteristics of the rail transit station are analyzed in this paper. Learning from the existing classification system, the urban rail transit stations are divided into four categories; combining the related surveys and research materials study passengers' characteristics of the rail transit station:spatial and temporal distribution of rail transit passenger, transfer ratio, trip purpose, and the reasonable walking areas of passenger and the reasonable of access area conventional bus.The current coordination problems of the urban rail transit and conventional bus are analyzed. Then the layout of the rail and conventional bus are determined. Finally, the adjustment of the exsiting conventional public bus routes and the method of planning the new feeder bus routes are studied. Then, mathematical analysis approach is applied to optimize the lines of conventional bus in rail transit corridor. The model are formulated for a transportation corridor in which an rail transit line radiates from the CBD and the commuters use either coordinated feeder bus/rail transit routes or the direct bus routes to the CBD. A uniform demand distribution and a many-to-one demand pattern are assumed in the analysis. In addition to service coverage, route density, headway, and fleet size decision variables are considered. The sensitivities of several parameters of the model are also analyzed.A many-to-one demand pattern is assumed in the model.base on the target of minimizing the cost of passenger trip time and operation, the model of the urban rail transit-feeder bus network design is formulated and the GA algorithm is applied to solve the model. At last an example is applied to validate the model and algorithm to be effective.
