As the main way of propulsion, the efficient and energy saving of propellers become so important. Due to the propeller kinds are diversifiedly developing, it needs more exactly to forecast open-water performance. The computer technology replaces the usual towing test in the information age and shipbuilding technology gradually becomes digital. This paper mainly introduces CFD,uses GAMBIT software to model propeller and uses FLUENT software to forecast hydrodynamic performance. The paper mainly discusses controllable pitch propeller, First of all, it uses GAMBIT to model 2D airfoil by the 0.5R data of three blades controllable pitch propeller, then, forecasting hydrodynamics performance by FLUENT.2D successful model benefits for 3D imitation. The paper designs three blades controllable pitch propeller by map design method.when the calculate results are ready,it needs to draw 2D plane figure by CAD.Through it,we can check 3D model establishment.Secondly, the paper converts the value from 2D to 3D by formula.then,it uses GAMBIT and FLUENT software to model and forecast in the different situations. It will contrasts with experimental data to make sure the method is correct. Finally,it designs five blades controllable pitch propeller by the same way of three blades propeller. In order to check the designed propeller hydrodynamics performance well or not, it needs to contrasts between single phase flow and double phases flow. The hub matches with propeller blades by Boolean calculation.when modeling,it uses regular grid, unregular grid and sliding grid.it benefits for promoting grid quality and decrease calculation time. The successful result can give us valuable experience in the shipbuilding future.
