Contents of the abstract. The propeller has become the mot widely used propulsion for ships,because of its unique property.People continue to pursue its high efficiency and energy saving. As the special propeller come out,the development of propellers move onto a new step.Among them,the controllable pitch propeller has a remarkable character so that people pay more and more attention on it.Just as its name implies,pitches of the CPP can adjust themselves.Different value of the pitch angle contributes to different thrust,which makes ships adapt themselves to different operating conditions.Based on the CFD technology, the hydrodynamic performance of the CPP propellers are mainly studied in this paper. The details are as follows:1. First of all,the value coordinates need to be converted from 2D to 3D.Then use Gambit to build JDC3-50 model.Based on it,the calculation domain is established and set the mesh as well as the boundary conditions.Then,in this chapter,it takes Fluent to calculate propeller hydrodynamics performance in different situations,which will to be contrast with experimental data to make sure the method reliable.2. Then study STAR-CCM+for for numerical simulation analysis.Because STAR-CCM+nhas a powerful highly centralized function,it will work out another hydrodynamics performance for CPP,and contrast the results between Fluent and STAR-CCM+,after which,choose the best one as calculation software in the next chapter.3. At last,it will design four pitch CCP according to the principle of propeller design by the atlas method.Firstly,different CPP models need to be built in different pitch angles.Optimum pitch angles will be confirmed by analysis the hydrodynamics performance curves.Secondly several groups of designed propellers in different area ratios to do the numerical simulation in STAR-CCM+.Next step is study the influence of area ratios on the hydrodynamics performance of the designed propeller by analyze the result.Besides,the area ratio of designed propeller is proved to be the optimum.The final study and analysis for the controllable pitch propeller will do good to the future study with the guiding significance...
