Objective:Our research decide to investigate the expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 and the forming of tumor microvessel density in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer,borderline ovarian tumor,benign ovarian tumor and normal ovarian tissue, then to evaluate the correlation between them.To analyze the relations between them and the pathogenesis,infiltration,differentiation,metastasis and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer,to approach the clinical significance in epithelial cancer.Methods:Select surgical resection of ovarian tumor tissues forn the patients from The Tianjin Central Hospital of Obstetrical and Gynecology,from December 2005 to May 2010. The expressions of both IGF-I and TGF-β1 were examined by immunohistochemistry in 35 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer,31 cases of borderline tumor and 30 cases of benign tumor and 20 cases of normal ovarian tissues.Immunohistochemical method was applied to detecting the expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 and MVD forming.Result:1. The expression of IGF-I was found in plasma of cells, The expression of IGF-I was all significantly higher in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues than that in borderline tumor tissues,benign epithelial ovarian tumor tissues and normal ovarian tissues(p<0.05),The expression of IGF-I in borderline tumor tissues and benign epithelial ovarian tumor tissues was higher than normal ovarian tissues,but the differences were no statistically significant(p>0.05).2. The expression of TGF-β1 was found in plasma of cells too, The expression of TGF-β1 was all significantly higher in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues than that in borderline tumor tissues,benign epithelial ovarian tumor tissues and normal ovarian tissues(P<0.05),The expression of TGF-β1 in borderline tumor tissues and benign epithelial ovarian tumor tissues was higher than normal ovarian tissues,but the differences were no statistically significant(p>0.05). 3. The expression of IGF-I in poorly differentialed carcinoma was higher than well differential ed and intermediate differentialed(p<0.05), The expression of IGF-I in peritoneal washing fluid or ascites cytology positive was higher than negative groups(p<0.05),but no significant difference betweem the patient's age,clinical stage(FIGO) and pathological type.4. The expression of TGF-β1 was related to ascites.The expression of IGF-I in ascies or peritoneal washing fluid cytology positive was higher than negative groups(p<0.05),but no significant difference betweem the patient's age,clinical stage(FIGO),pathological type and different histological grade.5. The expression level of IGF-I and TGF-β1 in different tissue was positive correlated (r=0.68, P<0.05)6. The same expression tendeney in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues of MVD was significantly higher than other groups(p<0.05),MVD was related to clinical stage,histological grade and ascites(p<0.05).7. The expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 was significantly positive correlated with MVD(p=0.45, P=0.0l; r=0.39,p=0.02).Conglusion:In epithelial ovarian cacinomas, the expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 were found.The expression of IGF-I was significantly different in either different histoloical grade or ascites.The expression of TGF-β1 was related to ascites.The expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 was positive correlated with MVD.The high expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 could promote the foring of tumor microvessel in EOC.The over expression of IGF-I and TGF-β1 and MVD forming in epithelial ovarian cancer plays an important role in the pathogenesis.
