Chinese characters as an important script written in Chinese, is an important part of Chinese learning, and has also become the important component of teaching Chinese as the second language. In recent years, many experts and scholars, as well as teachers for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, are of general interest and importance to academic research on teaching Chinese characters to foreigners and the results are fruitful. For foreign students, it is a big problem that "hard to remember Chinese characters, difficult to recognite Chinese characters, more difficult to write Chinese characters", and it has also become the focus of the study subjects. Previous studies suggested that there were two reasons for Chinese characters to hard to learn for the foreign students. The first was that we don't know enough about the nature and the characteristics of our characters. The second was that the study and application of the law related to teaching and learning Chinese characters is not enough. This study concluded that, in order to solve the problem of "hard to learn Chinese characters", needed research from two aspects:characteristics of the character itself and characteristics of students' Chinese characters acquisition, and on the basis of the study to instruct the teaching and to improve the efficiency of teaching Chinese characters. On the basis of the relevant theory of modern Chinese characters structure, psychology theories and the research results of international students character errors, we do the following things in this paper:1.Through statistical analysis of all the characters in the basic Chinese textbook, we studied the characteristics of its components and structures. We found that in respect of components of Chinese characters is characterized by:the components is limited; the number of components that constitute a character is very small; the appellation of components is of a higher proportion; there are more semantic components, and the construction ability of the semantic components is strong. Chinese character in terms of structures is characterized by:the combination of components is regular, and the rules of the combination is limited; the most is right and left structure, followed by upper and lower structure.2.Through experimental examination for foreign students at the initial stage, we sdudied the characteristics of the components and structures acquisition. Experimental results show that neither the components acquisition or the structures acquisition, they are affected from the learners' proficiency in Chinese and native language text background. All students' consciousness of components and structures appears earlier, but levels of development are different. The development of learners' awareness of Chinese character Orthography is a dynamic process, and it requires special attention to the acquisition of students with the phonetic language text background.Finally, on the basis of the above, we proposed a four-point teaching recommendation combined with the present situation of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners in this paper, and hop to guide teaching Chinese characters to foreigners.
