| Interrogative sentences in both Chinese and English grammar books have a special chapter makes their meaning clear, roughly the sentence types and usage, but in different grammar books, Interrogative sentences can be divided into different categories.This paper firstly reviews the status of Chinese interrogative sentences. Second, takes the modern British worldwide children's literature—the last book of "Harry Potter" series novel—Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow(Ma Ainong and Ma Aixin sisters from the Chinese Mainland translated a simplified-Chinese version which was published by the People's Literature Publishing House in 2007; The Crown Compile Group in Taiwan translated a traditional Chinese version published by Crown Publishing Plc. in 2007)as the corpus source, and divided the Interrogative sentences in both the English original and the two Chinese versions into three categories as the contrast material which based on the traditional criteria for the classification, and sets out the similarities and differences of the Chinese and English in the form of questions and Interrogative expressions, and points out the theoretical and practical significance. Meanwhile, takes foreignizing method and domesticating method as a translation theory, and through the in-depth analysis of the original series and compares the translation of the Interrogative sentences in the two Chinese translated versions, confirms the same text by different translators, which influenced by the cultural attitudes, translation purposes, text types and functions, readers, and other factors, will be used a different translation methods or strategies and directly affects the translation of results; Finally, sums up the content of this study, and indicates the inadequacies of the study and the direction of the future research .Hope that by comparing the Chinese and English questions, in-depth understanding of both Chinese and English in the similarities and differences on the expression of Interrogative expressions, which provides a useful reference and help to the second language learners and children's literature in translation. |
