From the perspective of deconstruction translation theory, dialectical unification and reasonable application of domestication and foreignization are explored in the essay by means of contrast and induction. As far as translation strategies are concerned, two major ones must be prioritized----domestication and foreignization. The two strategies were put forward by an American scholar Lawrence Venuti in 1995. The terms directly derived from an essay by a German scholar Schleiermacher in 1813. Domestication refers to the translation strategy in which a transparent, fluent style is adopted in order to minimize the strangeness of the foreign text for target language readers, while foreignization designates the type of translation in which a target text "deliberately breaks target conventions by retaining something of the foreignness of the original".Wang Keyi mainly adopted domestication, while Sun Zhili primarily advocated foreignization. The essay contrasts the two versions by the two translators, finding that the two translation strategies are not in a mortal conflict. By contrasting the translated versions with domestication and foreignization respectively, and by way of induction, the following conclusions are drawn: A. Both domestication and foreignization have their merits and demerits; on translating the original works, the tendency to either strategies is lop-sided; instead, they complement each other and should coexist. Dialectical unification of domestication and foreignization under the deconstruction translation theory is feasible to the translation of the literal works. B. The advantage of domestication is that it can embody the original style and bring the readers closer to the author's mentality; C. the advantage of foreignization is that it can convey the trueness of the original works in meaning, culture and tone, and of reflecting the characters'mentality; D. In order to reproduce the writing style and figure of speech of the original works, both foreignization and domestication can achieve the purpose. It is self-evident that numerous aspects concerning the application premises and contexts of the two strategies are worth exploring. The essay aims to offer a few commonplace remarks by way of introduction so that others may come up with valuable opinions, thus expecting further study by any experts and colleagues.
