Chinese character or sinogram is the trandition of China. Chinese characters have strong ability of constituting words. One character can match and expand many different words, basicly people understand characters means understand the meaning of words. However, for a long time, the way of vocabulary teaching of teaching Chinese as a foreign language copies the theory of westen linguistics mechanically using into Chinese vocabulary teaching but overlooking characteristics of Chinese words themselves. Now more and more scholars realize the basic unit of sentence structure is the sinogram not the word. Vocabulary teaching should establish in the "Sinogram as Basic Unit" theory(SBU theory).Recently, Thai government attach highly importance to Chinese education. As we know, at present Thai Chinese vocabulary teaching still treat words as unit. Students don't know every Chinese character has it's own meaning, even don't know people can get new meaning from the combination of Chinese character. Students study new words always by reciting the words. As lack recognization of Chinese characters and words regularity, lead to students puzzled in learning Chinese and low study efficiency. The writer of this thesis use the opportunity of teaching in Thailand, to make design on applying "Sinogram as Basic Unit" vocabulary teaching method into Chinese classroom of Thailand and to learn from experience, hope to make exploration of Chinese spread in Thailand.Firstly, the thesis expounds the basic meaning of vocabulary teaching of "Sinogram as Basic Unit" theory and the relevant present reseach situation of both at home and abroad. By using questionnaire survey summarizes the study characteristics and needs of Thai students, finding promblems existing in Chinese vocabulary teaching. Based on this, the thesis introduces a concrete classroom design of combining the "Sinogram as Basic Unit" theory for vocabulary teaching in Thailand and describes the implementation process. At last, the thesis analyzes advantages and difficulties of SBU vocabulary teaching method in Thailand, provides some suggestions on how to train teachers and the direction of developing SBU vocabular teaching method.
