College-graduate village officials are a special group that comes into the situation of the marginal roles in the rural social life. In March 2008, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee plans to spend five years in selecting and engaging one hundred thousand college-graduates to work in rural areas. More and more college graduates have gone into the basic level of construction in order to contribute to the new rural construction. This article is based on the Study of the special group -- college-graduate village officials, investigating the current status of their work, the problems they meet in both their life and work, whether there is confusion or crisis awareness about social identity among them, and whether the villagers, township cadres, village cadres think of college-graduate village officials the same as they treat themselves. Among all of these, this article mainly investigates five aspects: the identity of ability and quality, way and effect, identity and profession, local community and the future outlet.The objects of study in this thesis are the college-graduate village officials in H County, Henan Province. The research methods mainly include qualitative and quantitative research and the specific methods are the questionnaire and interviews. The questionnaire survey covered 100 students chosen at random from three towns and the objects of interviews include 20 college students, 20 villagers, 15 the original village leaders and 15 managers of the "village officials". All of them are from the three towns mentioned above. The current work status and some problems existing in the identity of the college students in H County are discussed by analyzing the data from the survey and interviews with the ways of statistical analysis and document analysis. And to solve these problems, this article from the macro, moderate and micro aspects puts forward the path of social identity construction of the college-graduate village officials: the formulations and reforms of relevant policies and mechanisms, the promotion and tolerance of the local village and community residents and the college students'own efforts and adaptation. This article will help the college students perform at their best in the process of building new countryside and achieve their self-worth.
