This paper sets Shanghai World Expo as the background. Through the volunteer training practice of Shanghai M district, this research seeks to point out the limitation of the existing conclusions that the design and carry out of volunteer training should only put organization and service items into consideration, and to come up with a volunteer training model for large social-scale public volunteer activities in the perspective of advantage. This model centers on capability construction and capital building, emphasizing on the use of social work intervention and strategies to explore volunteer's potential and advantages, making volunteers the real subject in training. It is found in this paper that the problem of the World Expo volunteer training lies in that training is not collective and targeted enough; volunteer's personal strength is not respected and fully used:volunteer's needs are not satisfied, etc. The author confirms that the above problems prevent volunteers from extending their potential and advantage into full play, and this can attributed to the rejections from experts and directors, the lack of empowerment and advocacy, volunteer's failure to sound and express interest. To solve the above problems, we should take the perspective of advantage. This paper cites the project'add the wood to become warmer' as an example, and the author advocates to stimulate volunteer's potential and power, to seek the extension of resilience and advantage and to explore external and internal resources with volunteers, applying volunteer's advantage to practice and capitalize it.
