Harvard University education developmental psychology scientist Howard Gardner proposed the "Theory of Multiple Intelligences (MIT)" in 1983. He believes that the structure of human intelligence is multifaceted that each person has a variety of intelligences, but the certain intelligence developed degree is different. Some are strong points, some are weak points. This theory indicates that English teachers need to stimulate student's interest in learning English according to their different intelligence characteristics. Student's intelligences need to be fully promoted, so that, they can become multi-faceted talents.This thesis attempts to solve the actual problem which vocational English teaching faced through the Multiple Intelligence Theory. With the questionnaire to understand their intelligent characteristics and discovered their strong intelligence and weak intelligence. Then writer applied the different teaching strategies in the teaching. Based on the understanding on Multiple Intelligence Theory and English teaching for many years in the job, writer finds that the Multiple Intelligent Theory applies in vocational English teaching is feasible and is also the inevitable trend in the future.This thesis consists of five chapters:The first chapter is introduction. Firstly, it pointed out the goals of English curriculum, the requirement of the medium vocational education in our country and the situation of vocational school students to study English at present, Then, writer discuss the significance of study which the multiple intelligence theory applied in vocational English Teaching.The second chapter is Literature Review. It reviewed some research results and situation which has applied the theory at home and abroad. Then it explains the content of the theory of multiple intelligences. Finally discusses the significance and impact of education reform from MI Theory, which is worthy of the attention of the education in our country for them to conduct research.The third chapter is the research methods and experimental designs. It is the core of this thesis. First, it introduced the research hypothesis, subject and three research methods that were applied, which were questionnaire survey, comparison and case study. Then it explained how to apply the theory of multiple intelligences in the teaching strategy. At last, writer introduced the entire experiment process that is a subject class as the example.The fourth chapter is research analysis and discuss. Firstly, through collect data and case analysis find that multi-intelligences teaching methods and the evaluation under the guidance of the theory of multiple intelligences are helpful to students'multiplex development. Then through the questionnaire and the application of the theory of multiple intelligences in English teaching, it is effective to raise vocational students'study interest. Finally, the example has proved that the application of the theory of multiple intelligences in the vocational English teaching is helpful to raise the high quality talented person who suits the market requirement.The fifth chapter is conclusion. Writer researched these questions through practice for four months under the multiple intelligence theory and pays attention to the vocational student's intelligent characteristic. In addition, Writer used multi-teaching strategies to teach students in accordance with their aptitude. Through transform their strength intelligences to stimulate their weakness intelligence, at the same time, it also mobilized all parts of their brain to work together and promote the comprehensive development of eight intelligences, thus it can stimulate the learning interest of vocational students in English teaching. Writer think it can better adapt to the new curriculum reform.
