Based on the requirements of the latest edition of The Undergraduate Curriculum Program for the Physical Education Majors of National Higher Schools issued by PE majors of Higher Schools in 2003, and combined with the status of curriculum design for PE majors of Higher Normal Schools and the practical requirements for Curriculum Criteria for Physics and Health for elementary and junior high schools, this study chooses the condition of curriculum design for the PE majors from the representative higher normal schools in Liaoning province: Liaoning Normal University, Shenyang Normal University and Anshan Normal College as the subjects.This paper mainly adopts the method of documentation, comparative analysis, expert interview, questionnaire, mathematical statistics and such kind of scientific study methods. It chooses the changes of teaching objectives for PE majors in our Higher Schools after the reform and open up, the status of teaching objectives for the PE Majors of the main Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning Province, the analysis of curriculum design for the PE majors of the main Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning province, and the condition of the practical abilities of PE majors in the main Higher Normal Schools of Liaoning Province and the studies of proposals for the curriculum reform of Liaoning Higher Normal Schools as the studying perspectives, and it investigates whether the current situation of curriculum design for the PE majors of the main Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning satisfy it or not and makes analysis of it. It also tries to figure out the main existing problems appeared in the training of new type PE talents caused by the curriculum design of the main Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning and the reform trend in the future. This study contributes a lot to their own development and provides theoretical implication for the training of qualified PE talents in the basic education.After a series of investigations and studies, the following conclusions can be drawn:1) The teaching objectives for the PE majors of the major Normal Schools in Liaoning are almost the same;2) The curriculum design for the PE majors of these schools is traditional and lack of features;3) The condition of each practical ability of the PE majors in the major Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning Province is not balanced;4) The reform for the curriculum design for the PE majors of the major Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning Province needs to be further refined. In terms of the above studies, the author proposes to:1) Covert the concept of talents training in PE, and to intensify its training level;2) Further refine the curriculum design for the PE majors of the major Higher Normal Schools in Liaoning province;3) Strengthen designs for practical courses, increase more practical chances, and cultivate their practical skills;4) Specify the goals, clear the minds, and to accelerate the reform of curriculum design.
