Research On The Relationship Between Higher Vocational Education And Economic Growth In Western Region

In the early 21st century, the Chinese government puts forward the western development strategy, providing strong support for realizing the coordinated development of the eastern and western regions. As a basic strategic investment, education has a great push forward to regional economic development. Therefore, the great development of western region must rely on the support of human capital. This paper studies the related problems of higher vocational education and economic growth in western region, and finds out effective ways for the higher vocational education development by exploring the relationship between higher vocational education and regional economic growth in each area of western region.Setting a panel data model, this paper analyzes higher vocational education and the economic development in western region and concludes that there is no harmonious coordination relationship between higher vocational education development and economic growth in western region. On one hand, economic development didn't provide strong support for the development of higher vocational education; on the other hand, the development of higher vocational education failed to meet the demand of economic growth. At the same time, there is regional difference in western region, and coordinated regional economy should be noted. Thus, we should set up a full-fledged management system in the development of higher vocational education. This paper puts forward management system with regional features in the light of economic characteristics.Based on the basic theory of modern education economics, this paper analyzes the mutual influence between higher vocational education and regional economic growth by using quantity statistics analysis method. First, this paper introduces the basic theories of vocational education and regional economic growth. Following that the current status of higher vocational education and the western regional economic growth are analyzed. And then it empirically examined the relationship between higher vocational education and regional economic growth by Setting a panel data model. Finally, it draws basic conclusion and puts forward some policies and suggestions. This paper studies found that the development of higher vocational education mainly relies on its own internal drive, such as the number of enrollment, graduates and students in school. Higher vocational education development in western region has a great potentiality. There is obvious correlation but no harmonious coordination relationship between higher vocational education development and western regional economy. Higher vocational education in western regions didn't convert human captial into productivity, and economic conditions restricted the development of higher vocational education. Overall, there is no economic gand effect between them.The main innovations are as follows: Firstly, this paper selects the number of enrollment, graduates, students in school, students dropout, student-teacher ratio and regional economic level as inverstigation objects. Secondly, it systematically and deeply researches the relationship between higher vocational education and regional economic growth in western region.
