In recent years, with the education reform of science teaching practices in both elementary and middle schools, inquiry education has now drawn more and more attention of the education community. For many scientific subjects including mathematics, physics, biology etc., the curriculum guidelines published by the Ministry of National Education have recognized the importance of inquiry methods It imposed higher standards to our primary education. Traditional education methods can no longer meet today's need.Although inquiry methods has now become common practices among vast number of teachers, how to apply it in teaching high school physics is still under discussion. It is critical to establish a workable teaching platform, in order to meet the needs of education reform of teaching high school physics. Using the literature research method, this article elaborated the intrinsic and main characteristics of inquiry education, and analyzed its implementation requirements. It also discussed the theoretical basis for implementing inquiry methods in teaching high school physics, in the perspectives of both psychology and education theory, including the theory of constructivism, Bruner's discovery learning theory, Vigos "Bates base of proximal development", etc. It then discussed how to practice inquiry education for high school physics through case studiesFirstly, through the analysis of survey data, it discussed the role played by both the teachers and the students in inquiry education. It then brought up suggestions to the general teaching mode, analyzed the strategies and principles of inquiry methods, and discussed how to apply inquiry methods in teaching practices using case studies. It focused on researching how to select inquiry contents and raise questions when teaching high school physics. This study also substantially recognized the limitations of inquiry education. At present, insufficient class time is one of the prominent problems. As inquiry-based methods requires more time from both the teachers and students, it could not afford to apply inquiry methods in all practices. Therefore, teachers should avoid over-emphasizing inquiry methods due to partial understanding, and in the meanwhile, combine it with variety of other teaching methods...
