Interdisciplinary graduate education is meaningful to university and society development, especially, it is meaningful to optimize the national innovation system and improve the training ability and competitiveness of colleges and universities. However, most of present college and university graduate education is still on the stage of specialized education of single discipline. With the development of expanded graduate student enrollment scale, registering for interdisciplinary postgraduate examination is changed from the individual behavior to the social phenomenon. However, with the expanded enrollment scale, the difference of the knowledge structure, learning psychology and discipline thinking between the interdisciplinary postgraduate and non-interdisciplinary postgraduate will influence the traditional education mode. The aim of this paper is to come up with some improvement countermeasures by studying the major problems in the training process based on the investigation and analysis of the interdisciplinary master degree candidate study and training situation, to improve the quality of interdisciplinary graduate education and to offer some valuable references for the future postgraduate education and management. This paper contains the following five parts:Part I is introduction. In this part we state the reasons for the rise of problems and the aims and meanings of this study and we introduce the research object and methods, such as Literature method, Questionnaire method, Interview method and Data statistics method.Part II is related concepts and theoretical study. In this part we define the 'Interdisciplinary'and its related concepts and state the theoretical basis of this paper, such as Culture development theory, Subject structure theory and System theory. This lays a basis for the theoretical study of this paper.Part III is status description and analysis. In this part, we process statistics of the investigating data with mathematical analysis method and overview the basic situation of present interdisciplinary postgraduate student, such as recruited numbers, motivation for enrollment, initial major distribution and so on; we analyze the present situation of the interdisciplinary postgraduate education.Part IV is problem analysis. In this part, we analyzes the major problems in interdisciplinary graduate education facing us today based on the interview results and investigating data, such as weak basic knowledge, single teaching style, imperfect evaluation system and so on.Part V is countermeasures and suggestions. Considering the existed problems during investigation, we propose some countermeasures and suggestions to improve the quality of education.
