In the long-term strategy, education is the first. Education is related to the prosperity of the nation and the richness of its people. As one of the top quality scarce resource, higher education is much more related to the development and the future of an individual. In resent years, with popularizing of the higher education, the scale of enrollment in higher education is continually enlarged and the number of college student is increased. And People's basic education requirement has been fulfilled. However, with the enlargement of enrolling scale and increasing of the educational opportunities, one issue that whether the distribution of higher educational opportunity among the social individual is fair or not is proposed. And it becomes one of hot research topics among the social fields in the process of popularizing the higher education. Recently, the standard of college recruitment is based on the score in the college entrance examination, and on this extent, every student is equal. But behind the scores, some non-personal ability factors influence the distribution of the higher educational opportunity potentially, such as family back-ground.As the elementary unit in the social life, family back-ground inflects the basic social condition of the family. It mainly includes the occupation of parent, education degree, social status and economic conditions, etc. all of which inflect the social status of the family in some extent. The influences of family back-ground on higher educational opportunity mirror some factors that influence the higher educational opportunity presently.Based on the sample college, this paper investigates the sample through the family back-ground, including family location, economic situation, parent's education degree, occupation status and family environment, and analyzes the disparity of educational opportunity of the students who have the different family back-ground. The paper consists of four parts.Part one is the preface. It mainly introduces the background, purpose and significance of the title, defines the relevant concepts, introduces the related studies at home and abroad, and explains the research method for using and reason for choosing the sample.Part two is the survey analysis of the sample. Based on the survey data and through plenty of statistical data and charts, it makes a deep analysis on the disparity of educational opportunity from the following aspects, including family location, economic situation, parent's education degree, occupation status and family environment, and reaches some conclusion.Part three is the analysis of the reason for the influence of family back-ground on equality of higher educational opportunity. According to the conclusion of the survey, the paper further analyzes the relevant reasons that causes the students of different family back-ground have the different opportunity to higher education.Part four is to bring forward countermeasures to promote the equality of higher educational opportunity. In order to reduce the family back-ground difference and pursue the equal higher educational opportunity, the author proposes some measures, coordinating the development of city and country, reforming the system of higher education related to enrollment and charge, valuing the education for all, and promoting cultural quality of all the people and building the harmonious family. And the author hope that through these measures, the influences of family back-ground on education can be reduced, the equality of higher educational opportunity can be further pursued, and the social equity can be actualized.
