With the development of higher education in Xinjiang, colleges and universities continue to expand, how to protect the equity of Xinjiang undergraduate’s higher education access opportunity in the higher education popularization period has become an important issue to public concern.Xinjiang is located in ethnic minority areas, to achieve social stability and long-term stability depends greatly on the issue of social equity, especially to the equity issues of higher education.Based on the questionnaire survey to 1611 college students in 8 universities in Xinjiang,analyzes the influence bases on the factors of family social economic status such as sections of society, parental education level, family income, family location and ethnic and other aspects of the impact of family background to Xinjiang undergraduate’s higher education access opportunity.Through research and analysis, draw the following conclusions: The higher education access opportunity of college students with different family social economic status in Xinjiang is significant differences. These factors have significant impact to the level and the type of college that college student in Xinjiang can access. Social class factors affect the opportunity to access the different types of colleges and universities, vocational colleges provide a relatively more opportunities to foundation class students.The social class differences in "211 Project" university in the largest.The higher the parent’s degree is, the more opportunity the college students can get.When parent’s education is primary level or lower, the minimum opportunity the college students can get. Public colleges and universities in Xinjiang provid relatively more higher education access opportunity to students from all income levels, in particular to the sector from low-income family. Independent college provid more access opportunity to students from high-income families.There are significant differences between ethnic minorities students, while there is no significant difference between Han students. The students whose family is in city has relatively more higher education access opportunity than whose family is in countryside. And on this basis give suggest improvements based on the actual situation and recommendations: Develop Xinjiang’s economy and narrow the gap between social class and income disparities.Vigorously develop education in Xinjiang, rational allocation the educational resources. Coordinate development of urban and rural and regional balance. Continuously improve policies and regulations and related policies to ensure higher education access opportunity. Give more financial aid to students from low income family,establish a wide range of award and salvation system.This study expands the scope, depth and breadth of higher equity research of Xinjiang, while rich theoretical aspects of higher education fair in ethnic minority areas, understand the status of higher education access opportunity of college students from different family social economic status in Xinjiang, it has great significance to promote the long-term development and equity ofhigher education and promote the comprehensive development of economic and social development in Xinjiang.
