The professional development of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school plays a vital part in the process of curriculum innovation of ideology and politics. The success of curriculum innovation of ideology and politics greatly results from the professional development of teachers. However, as the curriculum innovation of basic education develops deeply, how to develop the professional development of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school to improve their professional knowledge becomes extremely urgent. Therefore, analyzing the professional development of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school seems very important.The professional development of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school is the concrete reflection of improving their professional knowledge, so the analysis in this aspect has theoretical and practical significance for improving the professional knowledge of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school. The present study aims to analyze the professional development of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school based on the previous studies and related theories in pedagogy and sociology. And the participants chosen by the study are the teachers of ideology and politics in Urumqi to develop teachers'professional knowledge trying to insure the manipulability of the study.The study can be divided into 4 parts. The first part mainly introduces the results of the previous studies in the professional development of teachers in middle school, and then proposes the significance, methodology, innovation, and limitations of the present study. The second part mainly deals with the relevant definitions about the professional development of teachers and importance in developing the professional knowledge of teachers of ideology and politics. The third part mainly analyzes the basic knowledge structures, professional abilities of teachers of ideology and politics in middle school in Urumqi through interview, questionnaire, and class observation, finding that the basic knowledge structures, basic abilities to education and analysis and evaluation systems of teachers are not enough. Last but not least, the present study tries to provide good solutions and suggestions for teachers of ideology and politics in middle school in Urumqi to develop their professional development based on the existing problems.
