As an integral part of the education system of China, higher vocational education plays an important part in the construction of a country with rich human resources. Since social development has posed new requirements and severe challenge for higher vocational education, the existing subject system centered curriculum mode cannot satisfy the development of higher vocational education, and education reform must be further deepened. In the mean time, curriculum construction and reform is essential to the reform of higher vocational education. Therefore, new curriculum mode must be applied to establish a rational curriculum system.This paper first summarizes the study status at home and abroad on work process oriented curriculum, describes the curriculum requirements of the cultivation objective in higher vocational education, analyzes the existing problems of the accounting major of higher vocational education in Zhejiang Province, and introduces the work process oriented curriculum reform concept into the accounting major of higher vocational education. Then, it illustrates the connotation, theoretical bases and characteristics of work process oriented curriculum, stresses the necessity of curriculum reform, and proposes the requirements and principle of curriculum reform. Afterwards, in light of the existing problems in the accounting major of higher vocational education, this paper emphatically illustrates the work process oriented curriculum reform strategies, including 1) reform of curriculum system: break the limitation among different disciplines, and create the work process oriented accounting curriculum system of higher vocational education; 2) reform of curriculum objective:reasonably determine the curriculum objective according to the industrial requirements for accounting talents and the cultivation plan of accounting major in higher vocational education; 3) reform of curriculum content:based on the typical work task, design the work process oriented curriculum according to the cognitive law and career development law; 4) reform of curriculum implementation: based on the principle of action orientation, effectively organize the curriculum implementation through a complete action process covering information acquisition, planning, decision-making, implementation, check and appraisal, so as to realize the organic combination of learning process and work process; 5) reform of curriculum appraisal:utilize multiple appraisal entities and multiform appraisal modes, so as to reflect the real professional competence of the students as far as possible.The work process oriented curriculum can realize the organic combination of theory and practice as well as learning and work, optimize the curriculum system, narrow down the gap between school education and social demand, and thus facilitate the realizing the cultivation objective of higher vocational education. Although the work process oriented curriculum indicates a new direction for the curriculum reform in higher vocational education, there are not many practical cases at present. The ingenuity of this paper is to apply the work process oriented curriculum guideline into the accounting major of higher vocational education. I hope such attempt can offer some inspiration for the accounting curriculum reform of higher vocational education in China.
