The new curriculum reform, which has been on its way for about ten years, requires that teachers should be equipped with updated curriculum conception, because of which both has direct influence on their behaviors in the process of curriculum implementation and is critical to a successful curriculum reform. At present, little has been achieved with the new curriculum reform and there is a great deal of difficulties and challenges when the new curriculum project is carried out in rural schools across the country. As a result, the transformation of curriculum conception of rural teachers has become an issue of common concern, and related research is very important theoretically and practically. There are four chapters of this thesis. The first chapter recommends the basis of the selected title, the purpose, significance and method of the research, as well as that defines the key words. The second chapter presents the current study situation of the curriculum conception with a review of the contents of the curriculum conception, the components and the influential factors of the teacher curriculum conception. The third chapter introduces an investigation about the existing status of the curriculum conception of rural high school teachers. The fourth chapter suggests the direction and the way of updating the curriculum conception of rural high school teachers. The study conclusion is as follows:First, rural high school teachers have a vague concept of curriculum without correct understanding of its nature. Their concepts contradict their behaviors on the comprehending of the course objectives. They are not sure of the curriculum content, as a result of which the concept of open curriculum content coexists with a closed one. Their concept of curriculum implementation is in compliance with that of curriculum content. More than half of the teachers agree that there should be a diversification of curriculum evaluation. Moreover, the curriculum conception of rural high school teachers varies from person to person according to their gender, teaching experience, professional title and training frequency for new curriculum.Second, the influential factors for the curriculum conception of rural high school teachers mainly include two aspects:subjective and objective. The subjective one is related with teachers. themselves, for instance, their learning and teaching experience, communication with other colleagues, daily teaching reflection and self-teaching through books and internet, etc. While the objective one is embodied in such aspects as traditional cultural ideas, the attention the school pays to the new curriculum, etc.Third, the rural high school teachers should readjust themselves on the following concepts of curriculum:essence, objective, content, implementation and evaluation, and accomplish such transformation via improving their quality, learning all kinds of new knowledge and further more developing a professional teaching career. We endeavor to provide some theoretical and practical evidences, and then bring up correspondent solution for the difficulties in the process of implementing new curriculum reform in rural schools by investigating and analyzing the present status of the curriculum conception of the teachers.
