《Senior High School Mathematics Curriculum Standard (experiment)》has led mathematical modeling into high school mathematics teaching as a project. Whether have the mathematical modeling ability of senior one students reached the level of expectation? This matter is a major concern in this study.This paper includes three parts: the first part is literature review, which expounded the basic theory of this study and relevant concepts of mathematical modeling and analyzed the design of mathematical modeling curriculum in senior high school home and abroad; The second part is statistics and analysis of the questionnaire to understand the mathematical modeling ability level of senior one students; In the third part, there are two case studies, one is engaged in modeling activities to understand classroom performance through classroom observation of students, the other is the experiment report of modeling activities, completed independently or collaboratively after school by the students. The purpose of this experiment is find out some problems in the modeling activities.The results show that the mathematical modeling ability level of senior one students is not high, modeling consciousness and mathematical symbol representation ability is weak. This paper puts forward some teaching suggestions to solve the above-mentioned problems.
