Supernormal education, which arose in Europe after the Second World War, is the education in which supernormal children are educated. It is aimed at providing a proper education suitable for those gifted children. Supernormal education corresponds with the concept of"teaching students in accordance of their aptitude"and it develops the potential abilities of the supernormal children, it's beneficial to develop the creative talents, who are capable of promoting the development and advance of society. As a consequence, close attention has been paid to supernormal education. For the moment, the research on supernormal education around the world is focused on the following aspects: the identification and selection of supernormal children, the exploration of supernormal education mode, the curriculum setting, nonintellectual factor in the development of supernormal children, the study of individual cases on supernormal children. Comparatively, the research on subject teaching is lacking, not to mention the research on chemistry teaching. That is why I attempt to do some work on it. Based on my experience in teaching the supernormal children in the Northeast Yucai School in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, I made some questionnaires, interviewed lots of students and watched the students closely in class and wrote this paper, aiming to study the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of their chemistry learning, hoping to lay a foundation to chemistry education in supernormal education.This paper mainly consists of five parts, the first part introduces the basis and the background, the research situation, the research value and the method. The second part is about theoretical research on supernormal children, mainly related to the concept of supernormal children, the research status, the psychological characteristics and the identification and selection work in our school. The third part mainly researched on the characteristics and representations of supernormal children's chemistry learning from aspects of interest and attitude, learning methods and learning ability and chemical experiment etc. respectively, also concluded the characteristics of supernormal children in chemistry learning. The forth part made a further discussion and analysis on the result and conducted the conclusions and enlightenments. This paper provides important theoretical basis for later study of chemistry learning and teaching.
