In the twentieth century, after 1970s, the concept of feminism lays the foundation for the theory of existence of gender culture in our society. Gender culture has captured the attention of our scholars; more and more of them start to study this new concept in school. It has become an important part of the sociological research. Our world is constantly changing. Today, we are able to send men and women into the moon. We are making huge strides in the medical fields. In parallel to these technological and medical advances, women's social status in our society has gain tremendous grounds. However, there is still a lot of room for improvement in this male-centered Chinese society. The stereotyping of wov. en is inferior to men is deeply rooted in the ininds of the people. Hence the most important yet difficult work is to educate the mass about gender culture, especially about women's role in today's world. This can be done via entertainment media, newspaper media, and the internet. We can show people through numerous famous women figures, such as, Hillary Clinton, Mrs. Thatcher, and Condoleezza Rice, just name a few. Hence, mass media is a vital tool in educating people about the equality of two sexes, and how we shall build a more harmonious gender-biased-free society. In this paper, through the analysis of the time period of revolutionary war, we will study the development process of gender culture in our country. We hope to accomplish this via different venues, such as the sociology of gender socialization, gender hierarchy and gender culture theory, content analysis, literature analysis. In addition, through the typical image of literature analysis and other methods such as the mass media this paper will show the changes in the female roles in today's world. It will further demonstrate how China's gender culture has changed and in the process of transition, it will discuss how gender culture shapes our social economy and its role in today's Chinese society. It will also discuss its significant role and characteristics in affecting the mainstream culture of Chinese society. This paper will also show female image through the eyes of mass media by time division, through different periods of vertical contrast and transverse analysis of different time periods. We shall look into the presence of gender discrimination and other gender biased issues. Gender discrimination in mass media and gender inequality are manifested in the following aspects:first, in a family setting; second, at workplace; finally, in images portrayed in advertisements. In the following paragraph, this paper will discuss the sociological patriarchy theory, feminist theory and gender stratification theory. Furthermore, the gender discrimination is explained in detail as well. At the same time, it also analyzes the negative effects gender discrimination, especially how it hinders and hurt the education system in our country.Based on the analysis above, it is clear that the paper is trying to put forward some form of resolution to the gender inequality problem, including but not limit to how to form a more harmonious and genuine gender culture. First of all, we should establish the principle of gender culture, and awake the national awareness of such principle. Second, we must establish an advanced gender culture by immersing its core values into family, education, and last but not least, social environments. Finally, we need to promote advanced gender culture through means of the mass media. Hence it is imperative for us to protect the mass media from the impact of any mishaps in our economy. However, it is our goal to keep the mass media as a reasonable mechanism. Now it is safe to conclude that mass media is the better way to promote gender equality and thereby hoping to establish an advanced sex culture development. Nonetheless, there still exist backward gender culture, gender discrimination and gender inequality in the world today. Therefore, the need for mass media to spread the principles of building an advanced gender culture is of up most important. In addition, the government should establish guidelines standardizing the whole process. Another important factor to consider is the importance of education. Through education, women make great triumph feats in many fields that were dominated by men few decades back. Hence with the combination of education and the mass media, one can expect the feminism will flourish and become even better in a once male dominated society. This paper is based on comprehensive study of mass media, through the works of literature, drama, and the media networks.
