The domestic and foreign research studies have found academic dishonesty is prevalent, and it is a persistent and pervasive problem that threatens the core values of higher education. However, domestic researches aiming at this behavior are mostly applied in fact description and empirical analysis. The Theory of Planned Behavior, which rose during the 1970s, is commonly used to explain the behavior of the individual in the decision-making process. In order to know the status of college students' academic cheating, analyze the influential factors and mechanism system of academic dishonesty, and put forward some corresponding preventive measures, this study aim to examine the use of a modified form of the Theory of Planned Behavior in understanding the decisions of undergraduate students in cheating. In this research, 830 participants are chosen from three universities in Chengdu to be investigated with particular questionnaires. The relationships of attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, moral obligation, descriptive norms, injunctive norms Intention and academic dishonesty are discussed. Conclusions drawn from the study are:(1) Academic dishonesty is prevalent among college students. Students generally thought that cheating is an improper and harmful behavior, also realized that cheating will bear larger social pressure, but they perceived that descriptive norms are supportive of cheating.(2) There're distinct differences on gender, grade, Academic discipline of attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, moral obligation, injunctive norms Intention and academic dishonesty.(3) There are no significant differences of academic dishonesty among normal university students and non-teaching training graduates. But significant differences of moral obligation, attitude, prescriptive norms and behavior intention are showed. This demonstrates that behaviors of the normal university students are separating from thought.(4) To explore the relationship of attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, moral obligation, descriptive norms, injunctive norms, Intention and academic dishonesty. Base on exiting research findings and the results of correlation analysis and regression analysis, we applied the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach to test the model. The results indicated that: attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, moral obligation had a direct and significant influence on Intention and academic dishonesty, and intention has partially mediated the prediction of attitude, Perceived Behavior Control, moral obligation for academic dishonesty, Injunctive norms can predict academic dishonesty directly. There are only indirect relation between descriptive norms and academic dishonesty, so the mechanisms of Injunctive norms and descriptive norms are different. On the basis of above studies, we discussed the findings about the model of academic dishonesty, pointed out The countermeasures to strengthen the education of honest and faith of contemporary undergraduate.
