At present, Hengyang City is in a period of the market economy developing rapidly, the uncertainty of land use need has increased significantly, mainly in the expansion of urban land and rural non-agricultural construction land, this will make land use planning for the future regulation much more difficult. Therefore, in order to make land use sustainable, understanding the trends of land use structure, adjusting the social and economic development strategy, optimizing land use structure are the key; In addition, study on the structural optimization of land use not only of theoretical significance, but also has important practical significances. Based on this purpose, this paper optimized the land use structure in Hengyang City, wish to provide theoretical basis for restructuring the city's land use, land-use planning and other land management.The main results are as fellows:(1) GM (1,1) prediction results are shown, the land use structure has the following trends in 2015:agricultural land area decreased with varying degrees, Particular is the area of orchard and other agricultural land, Followed are land and forest land. Rural residential and special land area are reduced, water conservancy facilities land area remained essentially unchanged, other construction land area is generally increased; unused land continued to decrease.(2) Optimization of land use structure in 2015 showed that:the internal structure of agricultural land faces a adjustment, Arable land and other agricultural land area decreased, the proportions of cultivated land, garden plot, woodland, grassland and other agricultural land adjusted from 2423:1.82:44.08:0.00:10.76 in 2008 to 24.20:1.87:44.67:0.00:10.74 in 2015; the area of construction land expanded from 136964.16 hm2 in 2008 to 142483.81 hm2 in 2015; the area of unused land decreased from 155322.77 hm2 in 2008 to 140884.12 hm2 in 2015.
