Basic necessities of human life can not be separated from land, which support the sustainable development of human society, the relationship between man and land is one of the fundamental relationships of human survival and development. Cultivated land is an important human food base, to maintain the quantity and quality of cultivated land is critical to the sustainable development of agriculture. With the population growing, per capita cultivated land is declining, the contradiction between population and cultivated land, food has been the biggest barrier to optimal allocation of agricultural resources. Strictly protecting cultivated is a prerequisite to protect and improve comprehensive productivity of grain, in the face of not less than 120 million hm2 amount of cultivated land in China's bottom line, the government attached great importance to land management as a primary objective of maintaining dynamic balance of cultivated land. Urbanization is the inevitable process of human progress and an important clue in the change of structure of human society, reform and opening bring China's city good opportunity to flourish. Currently, the number of cities has been constantly increasing, urbanization and urban economic and social level also have been rising, the current level of urbanization in China has reached 40% around, the urbanization process has entered a stage of rapid development, city scale has been expanded greatly, city has showed a trend of the spread-style expansion, accompanied by which is rural land has been largely annexed, which led to imbalance in urban and rural development, and brought tremendous pressure to sustainable development of agriculture and rural. Urbanization must be based on land as a carrier, but it should not be at the cost of land in exchange. China's cultivated land is not surplus, but in many places people can not handle the contradiction between urbanization process and grain production, crowding out a lot of cultivated land, land-levying scale is too large, and the rights and interests of farmers are not guaranteed, which has become a factor of social stability. Therefore, how to coordinate the relationship between urbanization and cultivated land protection has become one of the concerns of the community. Land is the basis for regional development, we must understand and solve the problem of urbanization and cultivated land protection from the strategic height of sustainable development.The full paper is divided into seven chapters.Chapter 1, introduction. This chapter describes the background, purpose and significance of research, reviewed the research of inland and abroad, and introduce the method of this study, the technical route and possible innovation.Chapter 2, an overview of related concepts and basic theory. This chapter describes the meaning, measurement, stage and characteristics of development of urbanization, the content, significance and theoretical basic of cultivated land protection.Chapter 3, analysis of cultivated land utilization and change. This chapter analyze the status, dynamic change of the area, and problems of cultivated land resources in Wuhan City.Chapter 4, analysis of the relationship between urbanization and cultivated land change. This chapter carries on comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analysis of urbanization and cultivated land change of Wuhan City from 2000-2008, builds the correlation and coordination model.Chapter 5, analysis of driving forces of cultivated land change. This chapter carries on the principal component analysis of social-economic factors influence cultivated land change of Wuhan City in the use of SPSS software.Chapter 6, research of the amount of cultivated land. This chapter predicts the amount of cultivated land of Wuhan City in 2020 by using exponential model, social security and trend extrapolation methods from a different point of view.Chapter 7, suggestions of rational urbanization cultivated land protection. This chapter raises a number of measures from different aspects to ensure the healthy development of urbanization and cultivated land protection.Chapter 8, conclusions and discussion. This chapter draws the main conclusions and discusses the deficiency.
